Let 2022 Begin

As I normally do on Sundays, I get the French Press coffee brewed, music playing throughout the house, and calendars and planners are open and surrounding me on the floor. It’s a ritual I have at the beginning of a new week, but this is the biggie. It’s planning for a new year. So…Let 2022 begin.

Even though our year-end review was primarily performed at Samhain, I like taking this time to assess 2021 and the accomplishments of CoG. While looking for ways the Marketing & Outreach team can support CoG and promote our vision and mission. CoG’s First Officer, Lord Verderius wrote in 2021:

“CoG continues to grow and add new members to our magickal organization. Additionally, we are getting some positive feedback from the Local Councils and national members, and your voices are being equally heard for the things you wish to see transpire in CoG. We hope that this growth will continue well beyond the tenure of the current board of national officers.”

Even with growth, there are members with concerns about how CoG operates or may ignore members’ needs or wants. So, let’s all get on the same page and review why CoG is here.

Vision Statement

The Covenant of the Goddess envisions a world where all living beings are honored and cherished as manifestations of the Sacred.

This vision statement was created to align members together with the same vision and direction. Their belief that all living begins is of the Goddess and the God and should be held in respect and honor. While each member may honor and respect others in different ways, we should remember that each member has their own opinion, needs, and wants. It is a collective hope that we each look to honor and cherish CoG and its members in our best capacity.

Mission Statement

We, the Covenant of the Goddess through advocacy, education, interfaith action, and resource sharing, empower Witches and Wiccans to protect, strengthen, and enrich our religion, society, and the Earth.

Our collective mission is to empower other Witches, Wiccans, and Pagans in order to strengthen and enrich our World. We should work together to make CoG a better organization and improve the quality of the community through our service.

I ask all members to consider how can you help the organization become a better place, and actively improve our communities. Each and every member has a gift or valuable skill that others would find invaluable in experiencing. It would be a beneficial contribution to our communities having individual members conduct a workshop or panel on Wednesday with Witches. Just think of the potential members you could reach in your regions through a talk on our public events. Or, maybe you want to focus your effort for membership by sharing your knowledge of the Craft, or building and supporting Covens and Local Councils. The 3rd Wednesday of the month is dedicated to our Members and Friends only Wednesday with Witches. If you have a topic you would like to present, please contact me at pio@cog.org.

The Governing Board has already sent out their first survey to gather information from the collective membership to discover where our interests lie. Are you looking for more support to be a chaplain for prisons or the military? Do you have a desire to help Pagan and Wiccan Youth or strengthen their Craft knowledge or encourage community actions? There are so many ways we can enrich our traditions and continue supporting our organization. Please take a moment to fill out these surveys and share the direction of your magickal interests.

The CoG Mission is a simple one, allowing for multiple ways to protect and strengthen the organization and each other. CoG can continue being a strong, relevant organization with the help of its members. Continue being one of the strong voices of CoG and volunteer to enhance our mission.
